Who’s up for a challenge?
This November, Alfie’s Squad is looking for 30 teams of 2 to take on a weekend of fun and challenges to help support children and young people who have lost a loved one to suicide.
Inspired by the BBC’s ‘Race Around the World’, our ‘Race for a Reason’ challenge will involve more people, same fun and hopefully less drama!
- 14th – 16th November 2025
- Over 650 miles
- Anfield Stadium to Stamford Bridge… but did you think you’d be given a straight route to take? Think again
Alfie’s Squad is excited to hosting Race for a Reason, a powerful, nationwide challenge to raise awareness of the devastating impact of suicide and fund vital support for children and young people bereaved by it.
Thanks to support from LFC Foundation and Chelsea Foundation, the race begins at Anfield Stadium and ends at Stamford Bridge. Teams must solve clues and complete challenges to reach symbolic checkpoints, each one shining a light on underrepresented aspects of suicide and its ripple effects.
Alfie will be joined by former LFC and England goalkeeper Chris Kirkland and his daughter Lucy in one of our teams.
“I wanted to help other kids like me,” says Alfie, aged 16, who set up Alfie’s Squad after losing his dad. “I’m so proud that this race will show people what we can achieve together.”
Sponsorship Opportunities and Team Entry:
Your generous support will cover the full cost for a team to enter the challenge. This includes accommodation for two nights, branded team kit, spending money for the team to make their way across the challenge points, plus travel back to Liverpool.
Money towards Alfie’s Squad will then be raised by each team’s own fundraising efforts before (and during) the challenge.
- Headline Sponsorship – £5,000

- Family Sponsorhip – £1,500
Your chance to support a family from Alfie’s Squad to take part. Branding on team kit (hoodie and t-shirt), fundraising page and printed leaflets, social media pre-event, during and post-event, alongside Alfie’s Squad website.
- General Team Entry – £1000
Enter your own two person team. Perfect for corporate teams or the general public looking to support Alfie’s Squad. Branding on team kit (hoodie and t-shirt), fundraising page and printed leaflets, social media pre-event, during and post-event, alongside Alfie’s Squad website.
Each team will be allocated their individual team fundraising page, and will be given leaflets with a QR code that takes people to their team’s fundraising page, as well as a collection box for any donations during the event itself.
Allison Furlong, CEO of Alfie’s Squad explains
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone taking part in Race for a Reason and showing their belief in Alfie’s Squad. Every step taken helps us reach more families who are navigating the loss of a loved one to suicide, not just with peer support, but with experiences helping children and young people. Your support will also allow us to keep creating positive moments for the families we already engage with.”
Race for a Reason isn’t just helping Alfie’s Squad raise vital funds, it’s helping to raise awareness too. We’ll be joining forces with other incredible charities and community organisations across the country. This national challenge will help shine a light on the support available to those who may have lost someone to suicide families, are struggling with their mental health or wellbeing, those who may be isolation, and will hopefully helps every organisation involved reach the communities who need them most.
