Our mission of Alfie’s Squad is to support children, young people and their families, who have been bereaved by suicide.
Our Aims
Children and young people bereaved by suicide can feel very isolated and unable to talk about what they are going through. At Alfie’s Squad we never hide or shy away from talking about suicide; it is part of who we are and important in our shared journeys. Instead, we create a safe and nurturing environment where children can freely express themselves and connect with others who have shared similar experiences. Our empathy allows us to provide the support and understanding that children need during their healing journey.
By building strong connections with schools, healthcare providers, and other organisations, we create a network of support tailored to the unique needs of each community. This approach ensures that children have access to localised resources and assistance, fostering a sense of belonging and enabling them to receive the support they need close to home.
Our Guarantees
Alfie’s Squad is committed to creating a fun and supportive environment where children can make lasting friendships, develop a sense of belonging, and strengthen their self-worth. Our dedication to this mission ensures that children have access to the support they need to navigate their grief and build resilience for a brighter future.
At Alfie’s Squad, we understand the weight of responsibility in helping children affected by suicide. We take this responsibility seriously and strive to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where children can thrive.
By assuming responsibility for their wellbeing and providing a strong support community, we aim to reduce the risk of long-term mental health issues and empower children to lead fulfilling lives beyond their loss.
By also offering suicide bereavement support to parents/carers of the young members, we ensure that Alfie’s Squad is there for the whole family.
Our Commitments
Improving mental health and self-worth: Mental health and self-worth can suffer after a bereavement by suicide. It is crucial that there is support for young members to reduce feelings of isolation, to understand their worth, and know that they are enough.
Creating a compassionate and supportive community: We are not just creating a group for practical support, we are building a community that children and young people, like Alfie, can call their own: a safe space to make friends and find solace in the company of peers who share similar experiences.
Empowering young members to create a future of hope and possibility: We want to empower young members to believe they are capable of amazing things. We want to help to empower them to discover their inner strength believe in a future filled with endless possibilities.
