Not only are we growing by opening up a second Squad, but we’re delighted to be welcoming a new member to the team in the coming months to help strengthen the support for families bereaved by suicide.
Chris will be joining us in January and will play a key role in raising awareness of our work locally, building strong relationships with community organisations, businesses, schools and fundraisers. Many across Merseyside will already know Chris for her fantastic work with charities, CICs, community groups and much more.
So why announce now? Simply because we couldn’t wait to share the news! Both Alfie’s Squad and Chris are keen for people to know she’s joining us, and we’re excited to have secured such a passionate and experienced person for this new role.
Chris says:
“Working for John Lewis for the past 35 years has been an incredible experience, especially the last three years where I’ve focused on supporting local charities and building strong community relationships.
I’ve developed an amazing network during this time, and I’m thrilled to bring that experience and those connections to my new role with Alfie’s Squad. I’m really looking forward to growing this role and increasing awareness of the fantastic services and support the charity provides.”
Allison Furlong, CEO at Alfie’s Squad, adds:
“We’ve had the pleasure of working alongside and being supported by Chris in recent years through her role at John Lewis. She’s been a part of our journey even before Alfie’s Squad became a charity and before we even started to welcome families to our sessions. Chris shares our passion for supporting the community and we can’t wait for her to officially join the team.”
While Chris begins in January, our focus right now is on our nationwide fundraising challenge Race for a Reason and continuing to raise awareness of the support available for families who have lost a loved one to suicide. We’re also keen to hear from businesses or supporters who’d like to help us continue providing positive experiences the children and young people coming to Alfie’s Squad.
If you’d like to be part of that positive difference being made, email info@alfiessquad.org and let’s start the conversation.
