An unforgettable evening of compassion, community, and commitment to supporting families who have been bereaved by suicide.
On 1st May, Alfie’s Squad hosted its very first fundraising dinner and thanks to the incredible generosity of sponsors, key supporters and guests, over £17,000 was raised to help children and families grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide.
Held at the beautiful Hope Street Hotel in Liverpool, the evening brought together friends, supporters, and those new to the charity’s mission of ensuring no child faces grief alone. The event marked a major milestone for the charity, which was founded by Allison Furlong and her son Alfie, after they experienced the devastating loss of Alfie’s dad to suicide.
Guests enjoyed an evening filled with live entertainment from singer Jennifer Vaudrey and Brendan Riley with his lively Comedy Bingo, a raffle and auction packed with fantastic prizes, heartfelt speeches, and stories that reminded everyone why Alfie’s Squad exists. From start to finish, the atmosphere was one of warmth and hope.
A huge thank you to the evening’s generous sponsors: LFC Foundation, Warwick North West, Community Foundation for Merseyside, Irwin Mitchell, and Waterer Dental Care Limited.
Special thanks also to photographer Atanas Paskalev, from Nice To Film You who captured the night beautifully.
Founder and CEO, Allison Furlong, said,
“Tonight’s event has been a reminder that from the most painful experiences, something hopeful can grow. Every pound raised thanks to our amazing supporters will help another family feel less alone.”
Katie Ellis Carrigg, Head of Partnerships for LFC Foundation, headline sponsor comments,
“We’ve seen first hand the positive impact Alfie’s Squad has on the lives of young people we have worked with. It’s a pleasure for the LFC Foundation to be here tonight and support the night to raise awareness and vital funds for Alfie’s Squad. It is incredible that Alfie has chosen to use his life experience to help others and he is an inspiration to us all.”
Allison added:
“We just want to say thank you to everyone who made our first fundraising dinner such a success. We’ve come a long way, but this is hopefully just the beginning.”
